As a main contributor to space weather, geomagnetic storms can severely affect space-borne and ground-based technological systems, especially satellite communications, navigation systems, electric power systems, and oil pipeline and so on. Thus the research on geomagnetic storms has not only highly academic value, but also has promising application in the space weather forecast. From the view of a case and statistical analysis based on the observations of Wind and ACE satellites, the interplanetary sources of geomagnetic storms are investigated observationally and numerically.1. On the interplanetary sources of moderate geomagnetic storms. The interplanetary causes of 183 moderate geomagnetic storms (-100nT
