Noise mapping is the state of art in European noise strategic acting frame, and it plays an important role in noise control and city planning. Since this decade, it has become a hot topic and attracted increasing attention in many countries and institutes.This thesis has researched noise mapping and its application based on GIS. It investigated the current methods and existing problems in detail at noise-map making, built making and application frame of noise mapping based on GIS, discussed using the method of GIS spatial analysis to research the relationship between geography and environment noise, and developed a WebGIS Consultation and Publishing System. The thesis mainly includes the following three parts:Using current environment GIS data resources available, through integrating of professional software tool with GIS data, this thesis resolved the difficultes encountered in data obtaining and editing when calculating large area noise map, greatly improving making efficiency and accuracy and providing low cost solution for the making of noise mapping. Different type of noise mapping were made in this thesis, including noise predicted mapping for residential areas in outskirts of Guangzhou city, traffic noise simulation map of Guangzhou Inner Ring Road, the noise mapping of Guangzhou central area completed through combining practical measurement and prediction. All these noise mapping have their practicality values, and offers experiences for making similar noise mapping.Supported by the data of noise mapping of Guangzhou central area, this thesis, based on GIS spatial data, analyzes the area environment noise status. Interactive and visualized method is adopted to analyze the relationship between geography spatial and environment noise, experimenting interactive simulation and analysis to noise environment spatial over GIS platform. This is an innovation, and the result indicates the effective combination of the two technology concepts, i.e. noise map and GIS, and information can better utilize urban environment information, and provide support for decision-making for urban planning, urban environment noise controlling and its administration.This thesis has researched the storage of noise map data and its visualization under internet environment, and developed a WebGIS Consultation and Publishing System, a noise mapping platform facing the public. This system has the same advantage that the traditional GIS has, and excels in the way of query the current Web noise mapping available. The WebGIS noise mapping that published over the internet makes the public conveniently learn the city and noise environment around, is an approach for public to participate in improving noise environment, as well as a tool for environment protection departments to issue noise data and improve its management.The research of this thesis indicates that the combination of GIS and noise map helps improve environment noise control and its elimination from multiple aspects. In the long term, GIS-based noise mapping will not only be used to illustrate noise layout and analyze noise environment, but also to offer data resources and research tool for the crossover research of environment noise, psychology, and sociology.
