Celastrus Angulatus Maxtn is distributed in the midst of China, and used to be as natural insecticide. Three compounds were isolated from the root-bark of Celastrus Arigulatus Maxin via silica gel chromatography and prep. HPLC, i.e. (1)1 13 ,2 P -diacetoxy,8 P ,12-diisobutyroloxy,4 a ,6 a -dihydroxy,9 P -benzoyloxy- J3 -dihydroagarofuran (angulatin A),(2) I 13 a ,8 P -triacetoxy,2 13 , 1 2-diisobutyroloxy,4 a -hydroxy, 9 a -furoyloxy- P - dihydroagarofuran (angulatin B) and (3)1 13 ,6 a ,8 P - triacetoxy,2 P ,12- diisobutyroloxy,4 a -hydroxy-9 a -benzoyloxy- 13 -dihydroagarofiiran (angulatin C),which exhibited insect antifeedant and insecticid activities. Angulatin A in calli cultures of Celastrus Angu/atus Maxin were described. In order to carry out the optimum conditions of bio-synthesis Angulatin A from calli of Celastrus Angutatus Maxin, the effects of carbon sources , macro-elements, micro-elements, vitamins, PGR and other conditions on bio-synthesis of angulatin A and callus growth were studied. We have also established a crown gall culture of the plant transformed with Agnobacterium Rhizogenes (C58) in order to bio-synthesize angulatin A. Angulatin A was obtained from the crown gall of Celastrus Angulatus Maxin. As an extension of this thesis, the efficiency of angulatin A insecticide was 70% for Mythimna Spearata Walber (500ppm) and 90% for Aphrs Laburni (200ppm) respectively. The studies of toxicology was showed that LD50 of 1% angulatin A for Wister mouse was I 756.9mg/kg(oral) and more than 10000 mg/kg (skin) respectively, which exhibited that the toxicity of Angulatin A was less for warm-hearted animals.
