Being an important branch of the polymer science, the chelating resin is a kind of cross-linked functional polymer material, which can form multi-coordinated complex with metal ions. This kind of resin is widely used in the fields of inorganic, metallurgy, analysis, radiation, pharmaceuticals, catalysis, and marine chemistry, etc. This thesis aimed at reporting six kinds of chelating resins synthesized by using new methods. The structures and patterns are characterized by FTIR, XPS, SEM, WAXD and XRD, etc. The properties of the chelating adsorption and the mechanism for Au3+, Ag+, Hg2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Pb2+ were studied.1. Two kinds of snake-cage type chelating resins were synthesized by using carboxymethyl chitosan (CM-CTS) as the snake resin, urea-formaldehyde resin (UF) and B-62 resin crosslinked by polyamine as the cage resins, respectively. The best synthesis conditions were studied, as well as the swelling properties and their adsorption dynamics, thermodynamics and adsorption mechanism towards Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Pb2+.2. Two kinds of snake-cage type chelating resins were synthesized by using the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as the snake resin, and the B-62 resin crosslinked by polyamine as the cage resin, The best synthesis conditions were studies, as well as the selling properties and their adsorption dynamics, thermodynamics and adsorption mechanism towards Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Pb2+.3. A new type of sulfur-containing chelating resin poly[4-(2-hydroxyethylthiomethyl) styrene] (PSME) were synthesized by spherical porous cholromethylated polystyrene (PSC) reacted with 2-mercaptoethanol (ME) in the presence of the phase-transfer catalysts. The effects of catalysts structures, reaction time, reaction temperatures and solvents on the reactions were studied. The FTIR technique was employed to monitor the reaction process.4. The adsorption property and adsorption mechanism of the resin of PSMEtoward Hg(II), Ag(I) and Au(III) were studied. The comprehensive study by XPS, SEM, WAXD, XRD and the aperture analysis shows that there existed different degree redox during the process of the adsorption, where S atom in the resin was oxidized into -SO- and -SO2-, and Hg(II), Ag(I) and Au(III) were reduced to Hg(I), Hg(0), Ag(0) and Au(0), respectively.
