With the development of science and technology as well as new materials, the traditional textile industry is faced with a new prospect. More and more technical, functional textiles and textile composites are emerging one after another. It is forming a new field-technique textiles rapidly after the combination between textiles and many other industrial fields. The present textile products are applied not only apparel industry but also industrial textiles in which 50 percent of non-woven fabrics, 30-40 percent of woven fabrics and 6-10 percent of warp-knitted fabrics. But the warp-knitted fabric percentage will keep rising with its good properties. However, the traditional knitted fabrics are difficult to suit the requirements of high strength and modulus of industrial textiles except Directionally Oriented Structures or bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics. The Bi-axial warp-knitted reinforced skeleton fabrics have higher productivity and better mechanical properties compared with traditional woven skeleton.This paper firstly analyzed the development process and characteristics of bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics and then determined the research field according to the situation at home and abroad.This paper discussed the properties and the key technology of materials, warp-knitting and finishing; The geometry model and mechanical model of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics were firstly put forward according to practical products in this paper, which consider the effect of the ground structure especially. These will provide theoretical guides for the design and the exploit of new products; By means of tensile testing of large number of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics, thispaper delineated the inherent law of tensile properties especially in the relationships between the ground structures, materials and the fabric tensile properties; This paper also explained the problems existing in the domestic testing standard and measurement method of the warp-knitted grid products. The solution method is proposed and it was reliable by the experiment; According to the practical feature of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics, this paper investigated on the splitting ability and creep performance of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics by experiments and analysis. Some inherent mechanism and effect factor were obtained; The paper also researched and analyzed the creep behavior of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics; In the research on the basis of testing method such as shearing, bending and draping, this paper used a new testing method to measure the deformation performance of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics to meet the needs of reinforced fabrics. The results can provide theoretical basis for designing some kind of components of complicated shape of the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics.The paper researched the bi-axial warp-knitted fabrics systemically, and provides the theoretical basis for the development and application of these fabrics.
