Poly(phenylene-silane)s were constructed by step-growth copolymerization between difunctional Grignard reagents and dichlorodimethylsilane in moderate yields. 1H NMR confirmed the structure of desired copolymers. GPC showed narrow molecular dispersibility and conceivable molecular weights. Based on thermal gravity analysis and luminescence studies, the synthesized copolymers were potentially found to be as emitters in OLED display. And silicon inserted conjugated copolymer was synthesized by Heck reaction with moderate molecular weight. This silicon containing copolymer is thermally stable to 400 °C, while emission of this polymer is blue-shifted compared with polyphenylenevinylene greenish emission. It shows potential application as organic emitter in OLED.A new emitting material, Tetra(p-naphthyl)silane (TNS), was synthesized and used as hole blocking material in organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). Devices with a configuration of ITO / α-NPB / TNS / Alq3 / LiF/ Al have been constructed, where ITO is indium-tin-oxide, α-NPB is (4,4'-bis[N-(1-naphthyl)-N-phenylamino] biphenyl), and Alq3 is aluminum tris(8-hydroquinolate). A high performance blue light OLED was obtained which emits blue light with a peak at 439nm and starts to emit light at 6 V and the luminance can reach to 3800 cd/m2 at 13 V and 250 mA/cm2. And a series of carbazole substituted tetraphenylsilane have been synthesized, which are characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR spectroscopy. Their maximum emission wavelengths were located at 361 nm, which indicate their potential application as blue organic emitters in OLEDWe described the copper-mediated amination of bromothiophenes with carbazole and indole. In the coupling reaction Cul is the catalysis. The coupling of 2-bromothiophene with carbazole was studied excessively. And tri(P-naphthyl)phosphine was synthesized, which are characterized by 'H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS spectroscopy. It's electron level were studied by UPS spectroscopy. Devices with a configuration of ITO / a-NPB / TNP / Alq3 / Al have been constructed.
