A new sort of MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieves are synthesized with waterglass and potassium feldspar powder as main materials. By modification with Ti4+ onthe pore-wall surface of MCM-41, Ti-MCM-41 is assembled;By incorporating Ti4+and Al3+ into the pore wall of MCM-41, [Ti]-MCM-41 and [Al]-MCM-41 aresynthesized;A new type mesoporous aluminosilicate, named SAN-01 (its mainchemical composition: SiO2-Al2O3-Na2O) is synthesized from potassium feldsparpowder, and its walls are built in 13X zeolite secondary building units D6R. Theadsorption property of the new mesoporous molecular sieves SAN-01 to Hg2+ inwaste water is studied. The hydrothermal stability of [Al]-MCM-41 and SAN-01 aretested. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorptiondesorp-tion, solid-state NMR, FT-IR, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), chemicalanalysis, small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. The samples of [Al]-MCM-41 and SAN-01 have better hydrothermal stabilitythan MCM-41. The XRD diffraction peaks, (100), (110) and (200) of [Al]-MCM-41kept in closed boiling water for 72 hours, are clearly visible, but its (210) peakdisappears, the intensity of the diffraction peak (100) gets smaller compared withthat of its original sample. The samples of SAN-01 have better hydrothermal stability than MCM-41 and[Al]-MCM-41. The XRD diffraction peaks, (100), (110) (200) and (210) of SAN-01kept in closed boiling water for 48 hours, are clearly visible, as the time lasts to 72hours, the first three peaks are still there, but the last one disappears. By comparingthe intensity of (100) diffraction peak of SAN-01 and [Al]-MCM-41 both kept inclosed boiling water for 72 hours, SAN-01 has even better hydrothermal stabilitythan [Al]-MCM-41. SAN-01 is a hopeful adsorbent to Hg2+ in water purification.
