Due to the character of smaller density, higher intensity, cheaper price, easy machining and excellent surface decorative performance, aluminum and alloys have been widely used in aviation, architecture, vehicles, ornamental and household applications et al. The study of anodic oxide growth on aluminum alloys is of increasing interest due to the necessity for a better knowledge of the microscopic processes occurring during anodizing. Alloying elements are generally introduced to improve corrosion resistance and mechanical strength by modifying composition and structure of the oxide. But electrochemical behavior and the influence of alloy elements on composite anodized aluminum films need to be further studied. In this paper, the effects of anodizing current density and anodic time on the anodic films have been studied. The results show the anodic films are composed of amorphous alumina, and the thickness of anodic films grows with the increase of anodic current density (or with more anodic time). With higher anodic current density (or more anodic time),...
