Methane dehydro-aromatization presents new way of directly utilization of methane. In this paper, The activation and dehydro-aromatization of methane under O2-free condition over Mo/HZSM-5 and additive M (Cu, W, Zn, Ni, Cr) modified Mo-M/HZSM-5 catalysts were studied. The acidity, the surface character, the reducibility and carbon deposition of the catalysts were investigated by using TPD-MS, IR, XPS, TPR, TG and TPO. The results were as follows:1. The study of methane dehydro-aromatization over Mo/HZSM-5 catalystIt was found that the present of Mo-oxide species, the pore channel structure of zeolite and the acidity were crucial factors for the catalytic performance of methane aromatization under O2-free condition by means of the systematic investigation of support, preparation method, reaction condition, and pretreatment condition. The investigation of the support indicated that HZSM-5 zeolite is a good support for methane aromatization. The BET surface areas and the surface acidity of the catalysts decreased with the increasing of molybdenum loading. The catalyst with Mo content of 3.5% showed the best methane aromatization reactivity. Decreasing space velocity and increasing reaction temperature improved the behavior of methane aromatization reaction.
