The utilization of wood species out of plantation forest will be the main solution to deal with the contradiction between the growing demand of wood and the lack of forest resource. Poplar is one of the main tree of fast-growing planting forest. To improve its properties is more and more signaficant. Two methods of hardening are adopted in this paper. They are transection compression and impregnation with PF resin. Heating or steaming treatment is the efficient way to fix the compressed deformation. Air heating 15h with 180℃or 8h with 200℃, and steaming treatment 10min with 180-200℃can fix the deformation of Triploid Populus Tomentosa wood completely. To impregnate wood of Triploid Populus Tomentosa with water solution of PF resin can increase its dimension stability and strength, further the increasing of strengths is more obvious when impregnated wood being compressed properly. It is shown in the experiment results that the 20%-30% PF resin is a proper concentration for Triploid Populus Tomentosa treatment, and 10% additive does not impact the effects while reducing the cost of resin treatment. When the boards are compressed certainly after impregnated with PF resin, the surface density is higher than the core's with the concentrations of PF resin and the compression ratio, it results in the surface hardening. For example, the surface density increased 127.5% while the average density increased 97.7% when the PF resin concentration is 30% and the compressive ratio is 33%.As a result of the orthogonal expeiment, the parameters of the fast-growing poplar wood compression and PF resin impregnation are researched.
