Hydroaminomethylation, the one pot synthesis of amines from olefin, amine and synthesis gas, is an efficient atom-economic and environmental friendly process comparing with the classical synthetic methods of amines. Since discovered in 1949 it has attracted much attention and greatly developed and applied in the synthesis of various amines in last decade. The classical hydroaminomethylations are generally carried out in homogeneous catalysis system, where the difficulties of the catalyst recovery and catalyst separation from the product constitute major drawbacks.Aqueous/organic two-phase catalytic system was possible solutions to these problems. Herwig and co-workers investigated the hydroaminomethylation in aqueous two-phase system of lower olefins (≤C5), but to our knowledge the catalytic hydroaminomethylation in aqueous-organic two-phase has not been extended to long chain olefins in spite of the highly industrial importance of the resulting long chain aliphatic tertiary amine, probably because the long chain olefins are nearly water-insoluble.The hydroaminomethylation of long chain olefins with poor water solubility in aqueous/organic biphasic system were studied. Good activity and selectivity were achieved using water-soluble rhodium complex RhCl(CO)(TPPTS)2 [TPPTS:...
