Hydrosilylation is one of the most important synthetic reactions for the formation of carbon-silicon bonds on a laboratory and an industrial scale. Many organic silicon compounds can be synthesized with hydrosilylation reactions. The hydrosilylation of alkenes results in alkylsilanes that are versatile starting materials for natural products and polymers. For example, styrene hydrosilylation with methyldichlorosilane and trichlorosilane gives phenethylmethyldichlorosilane and phenethyltrichlorosilane, respectively, which are useful chemicals as silane-coupling reagents. Selectivity is a very important consideration in the hydrosilylation of asymmetrical alkenes because regioisomers products. The hydrosilylation of styrene or 3-chloropropene with methyldichlorosilane gives β- and a-addition products, respectively. Speier's catalyst containing chloroplatinic acid in ethanol is a well known catalyst because of its significantly high catalytic activity. Generally, hydrosilylation is performed in the liquid phase using a homogeneous catalyst such as speier's catalyst. However, separation of the catalyst from the reaction mixture is troublesome. Using supported catalysts, which has both properties of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts for hydrosilylation, is one of the solutions for this problem. Thus, it is not surprising that effects to improve the efficiency and broaden the range of application of the supported catalysts and the processes are ongoing. With the use of polyethylene glycol ligand, and the use of carrier such as silica, 4A zeolite, 5A zeolite, carbon nanotubes, and cation exchange resin containing crosslinking ligand, the supported catalysts, such as silica supported polyethylene glycol and Pt complex, 4A zeolite supported polyethylene glycol and Pt complex, 5A zeolite supported polyethylene glycol and Pt complex, carbon nanotubes supported polyethylene glycol and Pt complex, and cation exchange resin containing...
