The emerging integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power generation process is regarded as a promising clean coal technology in the 21th century, which can reach around 52% of thermal efficiency for power generation in 2010 and control environmental pollution. The hot gas clean-up is now considered as crucial to IGCC power generation process. In the passed few years, sorbent applied to high temperature desulfurization changed from mono-metal oxide to mixed-metal oxide. Zinc ferrite sorbent is considered to be one of most favorable sorbents, because it combined the advantages of Fe2O3 and ZnO, and maintained the high desulfurization efficiency of zinc oxide and the high sulfur capacity and reactivity of iron oxide. In this paper the author prepared a series of sorbent, using zinc ferrite as activate component and various clays as binders. Zinc ferrite prepared by co-precipitation technique has a spinel-structure shown by XRD, and temperature and time of calcinations have serious effects on its grain, BET surface area, pore volume and pore distribution. The sorbents were subjected three sulfidation/regeneration cycles in a fixed-bed reactor at simulated Texaco gas composition, and it is found that reaction temperature has an effect on sulfidation reaction rate. The higher the reaction temperature be, the more rapidly the rate of H2S absorption increase. The content of COS as by product decreased with reaction temperature. The rate of regeneration reaction is quick at first, but it go slowly along with time.BET surface area, pore specific volume and pore diameter distribution based on nitrogen adsorption were obtained for sorbents after three sulfidation/regeneration cycles in a fixed-bed reactor. It was found that BET surface area of ZFD7 sorbent...
