Alkyl diphenyl ether disulfonate (ADPODS) is a serie of anionic surfactants with many functions. It has two hydrophilic head groups and different from conventional surfactants. ADPODS showes very good surface physical and chemical properties and application properties.In this paper, ADPODS surfactants(C6-MADS,C12-MADS,C16-MADS,C12-DADS) were synthesized by the experimental condition. Their micelle aggregation system and surfactivity, blending formulations with conventional surfactants(LAS,DTAC, DDAO) or PEG were studied. Adsorption on kalion, interfacial tension and solubilization to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were determined as well. Structures of ADPODS were analyzed by molecular simulation. Biodegradation of ADPODS was discussed. The main results are as follows:1 A series of ADPODS were synthesized followed by structure identification. The reaction parameters were well investigated and optimized.2 Ionic intensity of ADPODS in aqueous solution is three times as high as conventional anionic surfactants, such as LAS and SDS. Electronegativity of ADPODS ionic group and electric repellent force between ionic groups of ADPODS are also higher than that of conventional surfactants.3 Surface chemical properties of ADPODS were determined. ADPODS posses stable Surface chemical properties when dissolved in 10% sulfuric acid, 10% sodium hydroxide or 10% sodium chloride aqueous solutions. ADPODS s emulsifiability and detergency at 650mg/L water hardness are very good.4 The micellar aggregation number(Nm) of C16-MADS was determined by molecule fluorescence probe method. With the increase of C16-MADS concentration, Nm increases accordingly within the concentration of C16-MADS(1.25×10-2~1. 10× 101mol·L-1). The variation of temperature and NaCl concentration has little effect on the Nm.
