In this study, ultrasonic irradiation was applied to prepare polymer/inorganic nanocomposite with electrical and magnetic properties. When the inorganic nanomaterials were dispersed at nano scale by the intense stirring and dispersion effects of ultrasound, the in-situ polymerization of monomers were carried out, and polystyrene/Fe3O4, polyaniline/Fe3O4, polypyrrole/Fe3O4 and polyaniline/carbon nanotubes nanocomposite were prepared. The main conclusions are as follows:1. Ultrasonically initiated miniemulsion polymerization of styrene in the presence of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was successfully employed to prepare polystyrene (PS) /Fe3O4 magnetic emulsion and nanocomposite. The whole procedure contained two steps. First, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were dispersed in the monomer phase with the aid of stabilizer Span-80. Second, ultrasonically initiated miniemulsion polymerization of styrene in the presence of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was carried out. The affecting factors, including stabilizer concentration, surfactant concentration, hexadecane concentration and the amount of Fe3O4, were systematically studied. Stabilizer concentration, surfactant concentration and hexadecane concentration strongly affected the formation of the coagulation.
