Research Of Traditional Furniture's Ornament Of Inner Mongolia

Mongolia traditional furniture is one part of the nomadic culture which should be protected and be researched in time. The ornament of Mongolia traditional furniture carried on large quantities nomadic culture. In order to guide the ornament design of Mongolia traditional furniture, semiology was used to analyze the rules which hided in the ornamental of Mongolia traditional furniture----the signifier and the signified of ornament semiotics.There were 388 furniture examples in the reseach and 114 kinds of ornament semiotics in the examples. Six indexes were included in the semiotics based on the tradional culture: index 1 was before history records culture, index 2 was nomadic culture, index 3 was central plains culture, index 4 was religion culture, index 5 was Tibet culture, index 6 was Mongolia culture.Factor Analysis was used to seek the main factor of the ornament semiotics. The result had three primary factors which were inherited factor,developable factor and relation factor. Inherited factor was the first factor which included the first three indexes. Developable factor was formed by index 6 and index 4. Relation factor was formed by index 5.The highest loaded example in first factor was the cabinet. As a case the inherited factor was analyzed in Mongolia cabinet and used in cabinet ornament semiotics design.
