2,9,16,23-Tetracarboxylmetal-phthalocyanies(Fe, Co, Ni) have been synthesized by the hydrolysis of 2,9,16,23-Tetraformamide metal-phthalocyanies(Fe, Co, Ni) in 22.11%, 21.29% and 26.27% yield, respectively, which were prepared by the reaction of trimellitic anhydride with urea and FeCl24H2O, CoCl26H2O and NiCl26H2O, respectively. 2,9,16,23-tetranitrometal-phthalocyanines (Fe, Co, Ni) were obtained by reaction of 4-nitrophthalimide with urea and FeCl24H2O, CoCl26H2O and NiCl26H2O, in 69.61%, 70.96% and 78.17% yield, respectively. 2,9,16,23-tetraamino metal-phthal ocyanines(Fe, Co, Ni) were obtained by reducing the corresponding tetranitro- metal-phthalocyaines in 40.71%,39.52%and71.43% yield, respectively. All of the compounds were identified by UV-Vis, IR and X-ray photoelectron spectra(XPS) analysis. The different micro-chemical environment of N and metal atoms were analysed by N1s XPS in metal-phthalocyaines.Investigation on the catalytic electro-reduction oxygen properties of tetrasubstituted metal-phthalocyonines (Fe, Co, Ni) is focus in this paper. The modification glassy carbon electrodes were prepared by the adsorption of glassy carbon electrodes to the soluble tetracarboxyl, tetranitro and tetraamino-substituted metal-phthalocyanines in their solutions. The catalytic properties of the modification electrodes about oxygen electro-reduction were investigated by the cyclic voltametry (CV) in three-electrode system. The affection on CV property is studied in various substituted group and different pH value of support electrolyte solution, and explained the electrochemical process. The result shows,there is a good linear relation between the peak currents of the electrodes and Scan rate, as well as its the square root, the regression formulas were built between the peaks and scan rates. The different phthalocyanines with substitubed groups have the different catalytic activity, their activity is arranged in group order: FeTAPc > FeTcPc>FeTNPc; CoTNPc > CoTAPc > CoTCPc. FePc derivatives only have the catalytic activity in PH>7, but CoPc derivatives have the excellent catalytic activity in both the acid electrolyte and the basic electrolyte solutions. Otherwise, the quantitative relations between the oxygen concentration and current response of the FeTAPc and CoTNPc electrodes were measured. There is a good linear relation between oxygen concentration and current response. This result could be applied in actual test of oxygen.The structures of CoTAPc and NiTAPc were computed according to the Density Functional Theory in quantum chemistry.
