Portland cement has evolved to be one of the most important construction materials for human being. The yield of the cement in China, having been the top in the word for 20 years, has reached to 0.97 billion tons in 2004 and still been increasing every year. The incessant demand and tremendous consumption incurred concomitant problems, such as the enormous resource and energy consumption as well as severe environmental pollution. The quality of the cement clinker in our country is still lower than that in the developed country and the related fundamental research lacks innovation too. Moreover, the waste residue has been increasing strikingly with the economy development of our country. It is believed that the cement industry would be an enterprise with low waste-discharge and low environmental pollution if the performance of cement clinker is improved so as to utilize the billions of various waste residues; at the same time, the high quality of cement could be produced. In this way, the cement will not only provide house, but also clean the living environment for human being. For this reason, the 973 plan of nation key fundamental research project granted the basic study on the preparation and application of high quality of cement (001CB610701). It aims to break through the composition scope of present cement clinker to obtain high quality of cement by means of increasing the tricalcium silicate (C3S) content in cement clinker and enhancing the hydrating activity of C3S through doping foreign ions. This dissertation was devoted to the above-mentioned subjects and some valuable results have been obtained as follows.Seventy one cement samples with different composition were determined and employed to compare their burnability by setting the experimental values of KH, SM and IM to be 0.92-1.00, 1.6-2.4 and 0.64-2.4, respectively. One this basis, a sample with KH, SM and IM values of 0.98, 2.4 and 2.4 was selected as the composition of a cement clinker and a new cement clinker was prepared at 1450℃and incubated for 30 min using 1% CuO (m/m) as a burning accelerator. The content of C3S in the obtained cement clinker was determined by QXRD to be 73%, the 3d and 28d compressive strength of the cement from the clinker were 35.6MPa and 69.8MPa respectively, over the standard grade of 62.5R for Portland cement.
