The detection method of the sulfur compounds (sulfur dioxide, sulfite, hydrogen sulfide and sulphide) in atmosphere, water, food, drugs and oil drilling fluid was summarized in this paper. The rapid detection method of sulfur dioxide, sulfite,sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate and free hydrogen sulfide in oil was investigated. A series of pre-processing method and detection equipment was developed and applied to the rapid and spot detection of atmosphere, water, food, drugs, oil drilling fluid. The detection results were satisfied.There are many detection methods for sulfur dioxide, such as spectrophotometry,fluorescence,spectroscopy,,chemiluminescence ,electrochemical sensors, chromatography, iodinmetry, blank reduction method, plants detection methods and some rapid detection methods. For the determination of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur compounds, the current detection methods contain spectrophotometry, fluorimetry, electrochemical,techniques, spectrophotometry, chromatography, iodinmetry, photochemistry, reaction rate method and so on. However, most of these methods requires completed and expensive instruments ,mean wile theses methods were times consumptive and laborious,which is not suitable for spot or rapid detection.We developed a rapid and spot detection equipment for the sulfur dioxide, sulfite and hydrogen sulfite.Rapid detection equipment of sulfur dioxide, sulfite and hydrogen sulfite. Base on the absorbance of new reaction product between the tested material and color reagent as well as Beer's law.The contend of sulfur compounds was determined.The new equipment is composed with light source /monochromator, colorimetric cell, microprocessor, detector, multi-parameter sensor, signal control and amplify system, constant temperature heater, rechargeable power supply, display system of the analysis results and the corresponding chemical reagent kit. The characteristics of the equipment, the technical specifications, and the limit for its use were described in details.The pre-treatment facilities of the detection of sulfur dioxide, sulfite and hydrogen sulfite. Fast distillation device for sulfites detection in foods, new bubble absorber for gas detection and distillation device for free hydrogen sulfide in water were studies. The fast distillation device for sulfites detection in foods was developed according a semi-micro distillation--semiconductor refrigeration technology. It is mainly made up of the semi-micro distillation heating unit and the condensing unit.The structure, performance, operation, characteristic and limit for the use of the device were described. The theory of the new bubble absorption for the gas detection is that when the air went though the absorption fluid, the measured components molecular in the bubble and liquid interface could enter into the absorption fluid quickly by the effect of the solution absorption or the chemical reaction. And the gas molecules in the middle of the bubble could be absorbed rapidly by the effect of the concentration gradient and quick motion velocity. The innovation of this device is the design of the bubble absorption. In this devices, the buffer tube and the absorption tube changed into an integration, and it contacts with the sample collection tube though the clips. So the structure became very simple and was also convenient to sample and clean. The device could extract and collect the air sample in a simple and rapid way out of the laboratory. The extraction device based on the chemical reagents absorbing the sulfide but not the hydrogen sulfite, The extraction device can extract free hydrogen sulfite. The device consist of the nitrogen bottles, rotameter sample bottle, sulfide absorption bottle and hydrogen sulfite absorption tube,which is transparent glass systems. It is easy to sampling, sample and cleaning. The device not only be used sulfur extraction, separation and detection but also can detect and extract the free hydrogen sulfite though the absorption sulfide bottles.The rapid detection method of sulfite in food, medicine and tea were studied. The rapid extract of sulfite in food, medicine and tea was completed. Using and the sulfite was quantitatived using the rapid measurement of sulfur dioxide, sulfurous acid and hydrogen sulfide It taked only 30 minuters to determine sulfite from food and tea and sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate from food and 50 minutes to rapidly determine sulfite in Chinese medicine.Comparing the results obtained by our methods with the international standard methods, there were no significant differences.The rapid detection methods of sulfur dioxide in the air and free hydrogen sulfide in oil drilling were studied. The detection and rapid extracting of sulfur dioxide in the air were completed with a new bubble-absorbed canal .The detection and rapid extract of free hydrogen sulfide in oil drilling was completed with analyzer of free hydrogen sulfide from water. The quantitative determinations of free hydrogen sulfide in oil drilling were completed with rapid measurement equipment of sulfur dioxide, sulfite and hydrogen sulfide.The experimental results indicated that the detection time of sulfur dioxide in the air was greatly shorten and the sensitivity and precision were increased., The detection limit reached 0.01mg/L for hydrogen sulfide and the influence of sulfide was effectively excluded.
