The new methods to synthesize 6-hydroxy-3, 8-dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane, dihydrobenzofuran and benzofuran derivatives are described in this thesis. These three families exist extensively in natural products and exhibit important bioactivities. The target 6-hydroxy-3, 8-dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octanes are prepared in only four steps in high yields, with the involvement of the aqueous allylation reaction. Facile starting materials, cheap reagents and simple manipulation guarantee its wide applicable scope. The dihydrobenzofurans are synthesized in one-pot mode with high yields, which also manifests the usefulness of the benzylation in synthesis. Further investigation in this area leads to discovery of a new synthesis of benzofuran. Preliminary mechanism study is also carried out. Besides, brief description of the preparation of some anti-HIV compounds is also included.
