The chemistry of coordination polymers and supramolecular complexes obtained by self-assembly has recently become area of increasing interest. In this thesis, a series of bent ligands bridged by the 4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole, acyclic polyether-bridged schiff-base ligands and porphyrin ligands were synthesized. The coordination chemistry based on these new ligands and various metal ions was investigated. Totally 50 new coordination compounds were prepared and fully characterized by IR, elemental analysis, X-ray single-crystal diffraction and powdered X-ray diffraction. The luminescent properties and ion-exchange were investigated.I. 13 coordination compounds generated from the 3,5-bispyridyl-4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole and 3,5-bispyrazinyl-4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole ligands and d-block metals have been synthesized. The results demonstrated that the chemical structure of the ligands and temperature influenced the structures of resulted compounds significantly.II. 28 coordination compounds generated from the 3,5-bispyridyl-4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole-N,N'-dioxide ligands and Ln(III) metals have been synthesized. The results demonstrated that the relative orientations of the oxygen donors significantly influenced the structures of resulted compounds.III. 3 coordination compounds generated from schiff-base ligands bridged by 4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole and d-block metals have been synthesized.IV. Acyclic polyether-bridged schiff-base ligands were synthesized and their coordination chemistry with Ag(I), and Cd(II) salts were investigated. 6 coordination compounds have been synthesized.V. Seven new type of porphyrin ligands were designed and synthesized. This study demonstrated that the use of ligands bridged by the 4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole and acyclic polyether-bridged schiff-base ligands as precursors to bind transition metal and lanthanide metals, is in fact a new and efficient approach for synthesis of novel supramolecular systems with interesting chemical and physical properties.
