The consolidation problem is a fundamental subject, for which this dissertation has been complemented from the establishment of the consolidation finite layer theory to its application. The main contents are as follows:1. Calculation method of finite layer of Biot's consolidation of layered transverse isotropic soil is presented and programmed. The agreement of results of calculation and analysis shows the efficiency of the method.2. Based on the relation between e-p curve and e-logp curve, the mothod ofcalculation of non-linear elastic modul of the soil is presented.3. Nonlinear finite layer method is established. Take the methods of calculation of nonlinear elatic modul above for an example of nonlinear finite layer calculation.4. Based on ponit 1 and point 3,nonlinear finite layer consoildation is introduced.5. It is thought that the essence of Biot's consolidation is principle of dynamic effect stress. And R-R,=[K], is proved6. Generlized load transfer function is presented, which can involve many load transfer functions presented by other auther.7. Calculation method of finite layer of pile foundation considering consoildation is presented and programmed.8. Calculation method of finite layer of pit foundation considering consoildation is presented and programmed.l). The mechanisms of S shape of the settlement-time curve are analyzed in detail. And thestrict mathematical and mechanical derivation from and one-dimensional consolidation theory also shows s-t curve appears S shape. Settlement prediction method of Possion curve is put forward. 10. Two history cases are measured in the -field and analyzed.
