There are mainly two forms of adsorption refrigeration: the refrigeration through adsorption and desiccant cooling. The former is to gain refrigeration volume through the process of adsorbing adsorbate (cryogen) by adsorbents; while in desiccant cooling, solid adsorbent is used to remove the moisture from the surrounding. The air is sensibly cooled and evaporating cooled and introduced into the conditioned space. Adsorption refrigeration uses low-grade thermal energy (i.e., solar energy, waste heat) as its driving and in addition to this, it brings no such pollution problems as caused by CFC and the like, so it is environment benign and energy saving. It has become a research focus throughout the world. In developed countries such as Europe, U.S.A. and Japan, the technique of adsorption refrigeration has been ranked as major research project and development targets; especially its application to the production of new types of air conditioning systems and the solar-energy-applied products are being attached great importance. However, in the view of the results of research in application of adsorption refrigeration, the solid adsorption refrigeration technique remains undeveloped, and because of low refrigeration efficiency, the high cost and the low heat utilization ratio and together with some other disadvantages, the adsorption refrigeration has not reached the level of industrialization yetSo the author chose the urgent and critical problem in the application technique of adsorption refrigeration as the research target for the -developing the well-performing adsorbent-adsorbate working pairs. The dissertation shows how a series of well-performing composite adsorbents that prepared by author suitable for the features of adsorption refrigeration are gained by using water and ethanol as cryogen (adsorbate), which cause no harm to body and environment. The performance of the working pairs of water or ethanol with the composite adsorbents in the refrigeration through adsorption and desiccant cooling are thoroughly examined by experiments. The dissertation also examines, through energy analysis, the refrigeration efficiency and utilization ratio of the adsorption refrigeration, and analyzes the economic potential of the adsorption air-conditioning.(1) For the first time, compositing the chemical compounds of alkaline-earth metal with the adsorption material, 13x molecular sieve, silica gel, and activated alumina to gain a series of composite adsorbents with good performance that higher adsorption capacity and lower regeneration temperature and suitable for adsorption refrigeration systems that can be driven by low-grade thermal energy. The result shows that the performance of adsorption refrigeration and desiccant refrigeration of the working pairs that made up by self-prepared composite adsorbents and water and alcohol are superior to the pairs of classic adsorbents (i.e.lSx molecular sieve, silica gel and activated carbon) for water and alcohol, when those working pairs are examined on the proposed simulation adsorption refrigeration and adsorption desiccant cooling experiment apparatus. The adsorption refrigeration volume of the M1-9906-water working pair is 2.0~2.5 times that of 13x-water; M4-0132-water holds an adsorption refrigeration capacity of 441kJ/kg~924kJ/kg. The adsorption refrigeration volume and cooling efficiency are: 315kJ/kg~909kJ/kg and 79kJ/kg h~227kJ/kg h, respectively. They are 2.2-5.9 times that of activated carbon-ethanol. In another hand, the desiccant cooling efficiency of M4-0132 is 1.9 times that of silica gel and 2.2 times of 13x molecular sieve at the regeneration temperature of 100C. Therefore, M4-0132-water and M1-0001-ethanol are good adsorption working pairs in the process of adsorption refrigeration driven by solar energy and low-grade thermal energy.(2) Apply the related mechanism analysis method used in catalyst to the mechanism research in composite adsorbents. A new way of research is put up here, in which the pyridine is used as probe compound, and...
