The fast development of rail transit makes us face the problem of serious railway noise pollution straightly. So far, wheel/rail noise, as the main source of the railway noise, has not been further studied yet.In this thesis, on the basis of the theory of vehicle-track coupling dynamics and noise radiation and propagation, a model of wheel/rail noise prediction for the rail transit is founded. In the model, the wheel is considered as a LOVE's ring, the rail is considered as a Timoshenko beam, and the slab is considered as a Euler beam. Hertz's non-linear theory is employed here for the wheel/rail contact, thus not only the rolling noise but also the impact noise can be predicted in a unified model. By the radiation ratio of the components, vibrations of the components are linked to noise radiations. Not only the reflection of the surfaces such as the bridge floors, the sound barriers and the ground along the railway, but also the diffraction of the barrier edges such as the edges of sound barriers and the bridges are considered for the propagation of the noise. Input methods of various kinds of disturbs including impact types and wheel/rail surface roughness in time-history are introduced in details. Here the golden section method is introduced into getting the coefficient of wheel/rail surface roughness. A program named STTIN (Simulation of Train/Track Interaction and Noise), which can meet the needs of predicting and assessing the wheel/rail noise with a personal computer, is implemented.By comparing the predicting values of noise with those of other famous software and the surveying results, it reveals that the predicting values keep consistent with the surveying results well. With STTIN, Basic properties of wheel/rail noise of embankment ballasted track are investigated. The influence of parameters of wheel/rail system and the geometry state of the wheel and rail surface on wheel/rail noise is studied.Wheel/rail noise of the high-speed slab track on concrete bridge and that of the urban elevated supporting block track are predicted respectively. Noise of the slab track, compared with that of the ballasted track, is more severe. The noise of the slab track is about 6.2dBA higher than that of the ballasted track for the receiver nearby the rail, and about 3.5dBA higher than that of ballast track for the receiver...
