Under the morden high technique, the military system has been developing rapidly. At the same time, the combat mode and manner of moden war has changed greatly. All these put forward new requirements for the theory and method of military system study. The complexity science, especially the complex adaptive system theory, which has been flourishing recent years and has achieved plentiful, offers a new consideration in the research of military problems. With such a background, the combat model based on the complex adaptive system theory is studied in this dissertation. The main research content and production is as the follows.Firstly, with the complex adaptive system theory as the theory foundation and the characteristics of military system as the evidences, it is elucidated that the military system is a complex adaptive system. And some special traits of the military complex adaptive system are proposed. All these establish a theory foundation for the following work.Secondly, a kind of multi-agent based combat model is proposed. A kind of framework of the multi-agent based combat model is proposed, which is composed of the combat environment model, combat agent, and combat model parameters. A kind of the combat environment model is proposed, in which the combat space and the combat environment parameters are defined to describe the spacial traits of the combat units and combat environment, and the influence of those combat environment factors on the action of the combat units. A kind of combat agent model is proposed, which is composed of properties and behaviour model. The spacial properties, physical properties and quality properties are defined to describe the abilities and state of combat units. The behaviour models of reconnaissance, maneuverability, attack, communication and adaption are established to describe the interaction between combat units. And several meta rules of those action are given. A kind of knowledge representation based method is proposed to give a formalization description to the combat enity model, which makes it more convenient to translate the combat agent from the concept model to the simulation model. The modeling process of the multi-agent based combat model is discussed, and the main task of every step is ascertained. A kind of simulation strategy is proposed, which gives the combat agents a random sequence at every simulation step, to dispose those concurrent events with single processor and single thread.Thirdly, the parameters optimization problem of the multi-agent based combat model is solved. A fine-grained genetic algorithm based algorithm which is for the parameters optimization problem of agent model is proposed. The fine-grained genetic algorithm is used to solve the parameters optimization problem of agent model. As to the parameters optimization problem of the agents colony model, the first step is to define the concept of "the parameters mode of the combat agents colony" to describe the parameters of the combat agent colony model. Then the genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem with the parameters mode of the combat agent colony model as the genetic individual. Besides the algorithm, the algorithm dispatch tactic is also considered. And the two level sequence dispatch tactic and the two level nesting dispatch tactic are put forward for those complex parameters optimization problem. At last, the model parameters optimization under antagonism codition is studied. The means to solve this problem is to translate it into a kind of antagonism problem, then use the competitive co-evolutionary genetic algorithms to solve it.Fourthly, a combat in a city is studied by simulation. With the application of the models and corresponding modeling methods, a multi-agent based combat model is established for it. Based on the model, the influence of city environment on combat action is researched. And in a seriesof simulation experiments, several combat strategies are analyzed.
