The propulsion control system (PCS) is one of the four subsystems of theMaglev vehicle. The propulsion control theory with field-oriented control(FOC) is the key technology of the propulsion control system. In this paper, the characteristics of Maglev vehicle propulsion control system with FOC aredeeply studied and analyzed.Firstly, the function and structure of the Maglev PCS is analyzed. Accordingto the running performances of long stator synchronous motor (LSM), andrefering to the FOC methods of rotating synchronous motors, the LSM FOCtheory is studied, and the mathematical models of the Stator FOC, Air-gapFOC, and Rotor FOC theory for Maglev vehicle PCS are developed. The mathematical model of the LSM, the converter, the control system, running resistance characteristics, and the mechanism system with the rotorFOC control is established in the paper. The simulation parameters and thepropulsion performances of Shanghai Maglev line are calculated, and thesimulstion results are compared with the experimental results. Finally, The static and dynamic mathematical model of the Maglev vehiclewith three kinds of FOC methods are analyzed and established. The effect ofthe motor parameters (the stator length, the number of the vehicle), therunning velocity, the feeding cable impedance on the PCS performance ofMaglev vehicle is calculated and analyzed. The features of the three kinds ofFOC methods for Maglev PCS are compared.
