Based on common gear-box, the composition of fault vibration signals from a gear-box and their interaction, the determining of the fault characteristics and diagnosis evidences, as well as the technique and methods of drawing fault characteristics are studied theoretically and verified with a great number of data. The uniform formula of fault characteristics and diagnosis evidences about gear-box are put forward at first time . And the standard-correlation technique for noise cancellation and fault diagnosis is created. In this way the fault characteristics and diagnosis technique about gear-box is recognized in whole and the new evidence & ways for fault diagnosis are realized . The main contend is as follows :First, present study situation in our county and in the world and the main problems remaining to be solved are analyzed in details . On the basis discussed above ,the main subjects and study methods in this paper are put forward . Then according to the basic excitation about gearbox, the vibration response as well as the composition of the response and interaction mechanism are made clear. And then the essential and stable part in the composition is studied . In this way,the inhent relationship between this part and basic faults is made clear. On the basis all above the uniform formula which can describe faults characteristics and diagnosis evidences is established . Furthermore, the common two layers of diagnosis evidences are extended to four layers according to the uniform formula in order to improve diagnosis accuracy.Such formula answers a lots of questions theoretically such as "How many fault characteristics in a gear-box " , " How to modulate with each other ", " From what excitation souses ", " What is the main evidences and ways for fault diagnosis " and so on.
