Radiochromic films are designed for measuring doses of high-energy photons, electrons and protons and the like. They are able to produce a permanent visible colour change upon irradiation. The color changes of radiochromic films can vary considerably depending on the materials used and most radiochromic film dosimeters utilize materials, which turn into blue color when exposed to radiation. It is noted that the radiochromic fims have prospective potentials in films of proton imaging. Therefore, the prospects of radiochromic films in proton imaging of radiodiagnosis are presented. In this thesis, two types of radiochromic films were prepared with different foundational materials and processing methods. One is named multi-arylamino methane (MAM for short) system, and the other is diacetylene (DA for short) system. We screened many kinds of chemical regents, and found out the prime directions of foundational materials, and optimized the preparing process. Then the radiation chemical reaction mechanism of the films was investigated by absorption spectrum, mass spectrum, thermometer, FTIR and Raman spectrum. The radiochromic property and dosimetry of the two systems irradiated under UV, γ -ray, electron beam and proton beam have been studied. The main new results are listed as follows:1. The MAM radiochromic film system was prepared with good uniformity, stabilty, and reproducibility. The compounding of the MAM system was optimized. The results have not been reported.2. The DA radiochromic film system was also prepared first time with good uniformity, stabilty, and reproducibility. The compounding of the DA system was optimized. The results have not been reported.
