Since reforming and opening, the highway construction of our country has been developed with jumping manner. With 20 years, we have built the expressway as many as developed country completed with half century. Now, the expressway kilometer of our country is No. 2 in order of world. However, there are two problems that we meet in the procedure of superhighway development and have not been solved yet. They are the premature destroy of pavement and caused high life-cycle cost. The highway agencies have emphasized the problems. The annual meeting of Chinese Highway Academy was held specially discussed the premature destroy of the asphalt pavement in 2002. Under this background, we has conduced a series of researches on this theme and suggested the concepts of designing pavement and designing material. In this dissertation, the parts of these research works will be introduced. These works include:The reasons caused asphalt pavement premature destroys;The design concepts of expressway;The concept of structure layer life matching;The design method of asphalt pavement with the concept of structure layer life matching;Designing asphalt mixture with digital method;Designing asphalt over layer on the concrete pavement.The main concludes are:1. The research and the investigation of the real pavement indicate that asphalt pavement premature destroys is related to single asphalt pavement structure and model design system;2. The expressway is not the one time consumable good. On this hand, the design or analysis period of expressway should not be equal to the life of the pavement structure and the design or analysis period of expressway should be longer than the life of the pavement structure. Designating the destroy mode and maintenance manner of road is a recommended modus operandi.
