It is of great importance to research dynamic soil-foundation-superstructure interaction(SSI) for predicting the seismic response of structure. Over the last several decades, study on SSI is a hot and difficult research topic in the field of earthquake engineering. A wast amount of theoretical and test research demonstrates that SSI has a great influence on the dynamic characteristics of superstructures, and the seismic response of interaction system may change greatly when the site is soft. Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (GB50011-2001) gives some simple interpretations for tall building design considered soil-foundation-superstructure interaction. Many theoretical research results are difficult to guide practical engineering design due to the lack of test validation. In this thesis, the field large-scale(1:2) model tests for dynamic soil-box foundation-structure interaction system are designed and carried out. The test model constructured in the real semi-infinite site can avoid the experimental errors resulted by artificial truncated soil boundary. Because the small-scaled model is difficult to satisfy the similitude-scaling relationship and do quantitative research, so a 7-story superstructure which hight is 12m is chosened. This field large-scale model test is the lagest dynamic soil-frame structure interaction test model in the world.Based on the field large-scale model test, some issues about layer soil-box foundation-structure under horizontal seismic are discussed in this dissertation. Theoretical analysis and experimental research are performed to study the mechanism of dynamic soil-foundation-structure interaction. The research results of this dissertation provide valuable theoretical bases and design proposals. The article is divided into seven chapters. Some main achievements of this dissertation are described as follows:1, Through describing lots of related literatures, present situation of dynamic soil-structure interaction research and its developing level at home and abroad have been elaborated. Its research methods have been summarized. The advantages, disadvantages and limitations of existing research results have been analysised. At last, the theoretical and experimental research methods and base concept of the approach for soil-structure interaction with box foundation are introduced in this paper.2, The field large-scale(1:2) experimental research for dynamic soil-box...
