The statistical model of reverberation chamber (RC) is derived. The effects of stirrer(s) and loading on the performance of RC are analyzed by numerical method and experiment. The effect of local average effect on the results of RC test and the application of RC in EMC test are analyzed. The main researchers in this thesis are listed as follow:1. The probability distribution functions of field and power of RC are derived and compared to the results of experiment to prove its validity.2. The effects of size and shape of stirrer(s) on performance of RC are researched by FDTD method and experiment. The effects of stirrer combination on RC performance are discussed.3. The effects of the loading quantity and the metal EUT size on RC performance are studied from K-S goodness fit test and correlation.4. The effects of antenna size and stirring step size on RC performance are analyzed by theory and experiment.5. The relations between radiated emission test in RC and in other test field are derived. The correlation between radiated emission test in RC and in GTEM cell is analyzed by experiment. The radiated susceptibility test in RC is compared to that in OATS. The application of RC in shielding effect test is discussed. The important results obtained from the thesis include:1. The asymmetric stirrer(s) improve the stirrer efficiency. At least one dimension size of stirrer(s) is larger than one wavelength, but this is not enough. Three dimension size and stirring volume must be considered.2. Adding a bad effective stirrer to a good effective stirrer can't improve the total effect, but the combination of two bad effective stirrers can improve the effect.3. Proper load will make RC performance better, but excessive load will reduce the quantity of dependent sample. For the loss of metal EUT is small, the field uniformity of RC may be influenced when large mental EUT is placed in RC.4. The influence of antenna size and stirrer(s) step on test must be considered in RC calibration and EMC test in RC.5. The radiation emission test results obtained from RC are consistent with those from GTEM., so RC can be used as alternative test field for radiation emission. The measured results agree well with the calculated ones. The results obtained in this thesis are contributive to EMC test and the design of TEM cell or GTEM cell.
