With the renewal of measurement equipment and mechanical precision improvement in modern times, the proportion of thermal deformation error is much larger in the whole errors. Scientists today pay more and more attention to influence of thermal deformation in precise system and instruments. This paper summarizes domestic and abroad thermal deformation achievements, under the subsidization of NSFC(National Nature Science Fund) projects "Theoretical and Applied Research of Mechanical Assort Thermal Deformation Errors" (item number: 50075023) and "Theoretical and Applied Research of Thermal Deformation of Complicated Regular Machine Components" (item number: 50475069), on the basis of available achievements of simple structure, machine components, systematically studies the thermal deformation of spur gear, establishes its thermal deformation mathematics model by massive experiments. The results are important to the design of gears and are the bases to the future research.Based on the principle of gear transmission, friction theory, solid state physics, heat conduction, elasticity theory, thermal elasticity theory, the main contents of the thesis include as following:Because of its form complication, the expansibility of complicated machine components is not similar to the simples', is affected by Atomic Space, electronic structure and so on. Its expansion mechanism is: the free expansion of complicated machine components don't exist when its temperature increases, because its material properties and thermal inertia are not identical. Thus thermal stress exists in its body, and produces additional strain, and makes the internal stress redistribution. Repeatedly the part is expanded in the short dimensions, and while contracted in the long dimensions. It is thermal stress that makes edges and corners round, plane bulge. And it makes the parts not similar in structure. The experimental results prove this expansion tendency do exist in most machine components when its temperature changes.It is very difficult to establish analytical method of bulk temperature field of meshing gear because of its complexity. Based on Blok's theory, the meshing gear can be simplified into a pair of cylinders relative rolling, and a single gear can be regard as a hollow circular plate that the heat input at the reference circle and output from the both faces.
