Traffic safety is a perpetual theme in the development of automobile traffic, with the rapid increase of vehicle population, road traffic accidents, particularly the high incidence of serious accidents (such as successive rear-end collision on highway ), safety problems have become increasingly prominent .That is why the intelligent traffic emerged. Auxiliary driving safely (Safety Driving Assist, SDA), mainly solving the problem of road safety, is a key component of the International Intelligent Transportation System, and it will also relax traffic jam and environmental pollution that troubled area of transportation. Currently, Europe and the United States and other developed countries have made some achievements in this area, some of these kinds of technologies are relatively mature and have been turned into relevant products.Limited by our present economic and scientific situation, the study of Safety Driving Assist skills lag behind the world's advanced level. At present, the vehicle safe distance control is a hot topic in the research of SDA, which mainly deal with road traffic accidents such as rear-end collision. Machine Vision is more extensive than other types of sensors and is the mainstream in the field of forward detecting,the digital image acquired by which contains a lot of useful information,and if integrated with the knowledge of image processing and analysis, pattern recognition ,computer vision technology and other relevant methods , the object can be successfully detected . In this paper, environmental information in front of the vehicle was acquired by means of a monocular vision. Based on this, we explicitly set forth the questions that how we get the vehicle identification and tracking, the vehicle distance measurement, the speed estimate and how to establish the safe distance warning model under different light conditions .
