In this dissertation, because there are plenty ot mineral resources of vanadium and manganese in China, vanadium oxides and manganese oxides were selected to be the emphases of the research works on the basis of the review of previous work and a large amount of literatures. Considering the difference between variety of cathode materials for the lithium ion battery (LIB), different syntheses methods were employed and the electrochemical properties of the prepared cathode materials were investigated. The details are summarized as follows.1. Vanadium pentoxide and molybdenum vanadate were successfully synthesized via a citric acid assisted sol-gel method. The structural and electrochemical properties of the synthesized materials were characterized. The results indicate that the vanadium pentoxide prepared via this route present an improved initial discharge capacity of 798 mAh/g. Molybdenum vanadate, which was thought to be the complex material of vanadium pentoxide and molybdenum trioxide, was used as cathode material for the LIB and had a good initial discharge capacity of 509 mAh/g. And its fading ratio in per cycle is 1%, which means the cycle-ability of the complex material is better than...
