Dimensional and Geometrical Product Specification and Verification (GPS) is a technical standard system for the product geometry, which covers the standards of the size, dimension, geometrical tolerancing and surface texture of geometrical product. The GPS links the whole course of a geometrical product from the research, development, design, manufacturing and verification to its release, utilization, and maintenance. The application fields of the GPS cover all geometrical products, such as machine, automobile, home appliances, computer, mobile telephone, space shuttle, etc.. With the development and application of CAD/CAM/CAQ, the availability of new measuring principles, technologies and instruments, the use of advanced manufacturing technology, a new generation of GPS language and technical standard system is coming into being in the world. On the basis of summarizing current research situations and developments about GPS at aboard and home, this dissertation proposes to build up the integration model, the framework of the theory, key technologies for the new generation of GPS and the implement strategies in China. The purpose of this dissertation is to lay a theoretic foundation and to provide a technique assurance for constituting, applying the GPS standards in China's manufacturing industry. The main contents and creative points are as follows.An integration model, framework of theoretic system and application pattern of the new generation of GPS are proposed. The model constructs a parallel procedure between the specification and the verification of geometrical product. Based on the theory and application pattern of surface model, geometrical feature, operator and operation, specification and verification, and uncertainty, a common communication language is provided for exactly expressing and transferring the information between the function, design, manufacturing and verification of geometrical product.A tolerance representation model based on the geometrical features of the new GPS and the graph theory is proposed. With the classification of continuous subgroups of rigid motion, and the constraining positions of the geometrical features are defined. The tolerancing relation matrix, the constrained equation for tolerance design, and the prototype system for application are given in this dissertation. The purpose is to lay theory for design of tolerance and precision in the new generation of GPS.A scheme of an intelligent knowledge-based system of GPS is proposed. With the Unified Modelling Language (UML), the fields of the knowledge-based system and the operation flows between the GPS and CAX software is analyzed. The software platform of the application for GPS standards system has been established, and tested with the combination of AutoCAD. The intelligent knowledge-based system of GPS gives a feasible approach for the implementation of the new generation of GPS for the China's manufacturing industry.Some suggestions of the implementing strategies for establishing a new GPS standard system in China's manufacturing industry are proposed. The aim is to accelerate the development of China's advanced manufacturing industry.
