These years, finite element methods based on the principle of strength reduce were applied widely in the stability analysis for geotechnical engineering along with the development of computer technology. The biggest strongpoint of these methods is easy to consider complex structure and gain latent slip face automatically. But there is a important shortage of these methods is being much dispute on reduce mode about strength parameters. Haven't gained a unitive cognition at present. Otherwise, the results of finite element methods can not validate each other with results of physical tests. So the application foreground of finite element methods is challenging.The primary instruments are antetype observation and model test which to check the actual engineering status in the geotechnical engineering field. The antetype observation is the best direct and convictive methods, but approach miscellaneous and spend hugely. The general model test can not fulfil the same stress between model and antetype. Geotechnical centrifuge model test can not only minish the measure of model and fulfil the comparability condition, but also can found all kinds of non-symmetrical models and simulation all kinds of complicated engineering. So the geotechnical centrifuge model test is applied widely in the geotechnical engineering.The author used the RFPA(Realistic Failure Process Analysis) and recured to the principle of geotechnical centrifuge model test, evaluated the safety repertory of model only by increase the physical strength. This method conquer the shortage of strength reduce method. Though the numerical calculating in symmetrical and non-symmetrical models with different scales showed that stress, displacement and failure mode were accord with conform ratio of centrifuge model test. Showed the advantage that the results of RFPA-Centrifuge can be validated each other with results of physical test.Results of numerical simulation about symmetrical soil slope with different parameters showed that RFPA-Centrifuge can gain the place and shape of slip without any presume. At the same time gain the corresponding safety factors and gradual failure process. For rock slope, traditional methods are difficult to search the slip face, validate the usability of RFPA-Centrifuge in rock slope though numerical simulation with different weak layer, different joints. Gained the inosculate results with actual in Nan-fen strip mine coast case and failure of fill soil roadbed in Shandong province. Explained effectively the dependability which RFPA-Centrifuge applied in geotechnical engineering.
