Land resource is the foundation of existence and development for human being. As population has rapidly been growing and economy has been developing since 20th century, the contradiction between population and land increasingly has stood out. Due to irrational utilization of land, land deterioration has been aggravated, global environment increasingly has gone to worse, and socio-economic sustainable development has been affected seriously by it. Therefore, land resource utilization and its dynamic have attracted universal attention.Monitoring land use status timely is the basis of rational management of land resource, and the important gist for planning agriculture or even the whole national economy. Possessing the advantages of macroscopic information, real time, periodicity and integrity, remote sensing provide the possibility for monitoring land use quickly, objectively and precisely. Nowadays, as the rapid development of satellite remote sensing and the establishment of earth observation system, the ability to gain various remotely sensed data become more and more strong. Because of the integrity of remotely sensed information and the mechanism complexity of remote sensing, information process technology lag behind information acquisition technology. Automatic, high precise, and intelligent interpretation of land use information from the image still hasn't been unfulfilled. The precision of automatic interpretation usually is lower than visual interpretation. Thereby, it is necessary to study some key techniques on monitoring by remote sensing by combining actual situation. Not only can it benefit the remote sensing research, solve some key problems, but also can promote remote sensing application, and raise the level of land use management.Poyang Lake is the largest fresh water lake in China and a renowned-166-wetland in the world. The state council of China approved it to be state nature protection area in May 1988, and rated to the important swamp scroll of world "swamp convention" by UNESCO in July 1992. Poyang Lake plays important roles in regional ecology with the name of " kingdom of cranes" and "paradise of rare birds". Possessing superior natural resources and socioeconomic condition, Poyang lake region is the important production base of marketable grain, oil, cotton, and fish in our country. However, land resource in the region is in quite tension status. Economy goes behind relatively. Irrational land use results in soil erosion, river silting, land capability decreasing, sand area increasing, and ecological environment deterioration. These bring serious impact to the socioeconomic sustainable development. It is urgent to monitor land use quickly, objectively and precisely, and grip its dynamic. Therefore, this research is carried out to find out the land use monitoring techniques suitable for this region, so as to provide technical support for land use scientific management. The content of this research is as follows:1. Construction of database management system for remote sensing monitoring? Construction of spatial database for land use monitoring;? Construction of database management system for remote sensing monitoring.2. Feature analysis of remotely sensed images? Analyzing TM and ETM+ images information amount, standard deviation and the correlation between images;? Analyzing spectrum features of main land use types in this region.? Carrying out the image principal component transformation, and analyzing the correlations between the principal components and original images.3. Study on the selection of optimal feature image combinationBased on the analysis of various quantitative methods of image combination, the differences of the selection results and the relations of methods have been discussed. A integrated selection index for optimal feature combination selection has been proposed. The integrated selection index model takes both of image information amount and land use type into c...
