Animal blue-tongue disease (BTD) is an important infectious disease in ruminant caused by Blue-tongue virus (BTV). It was prescribed an infectious disease by OIE and the first infectious disease in china. At present there are 24 seroum types was found in the world. It distributes most provinces that north latitude 40D. BTD seroum positive were verified in animals in Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan, Neimenggu, Hebei, Jiangsu, Liaoning etc. Before it was found in Shangxi, his disease's clinic symptom and death was only found in Yunnan, Sichuan, Anhui, Hubei,and in 1979, BTD was outbreak in sheep in Shizong county Yunnan province, and millions yuan of RMB was spent to therapy, quarantine, eradicate, blockage etc.Aim at the new found infection disease's outbreak in section of Shanxi province, and in order to find an effective prevent, control technique, so we set up the new task, applied this we can control this disease and resolve problem in the affect. We protracted the picture of infection distribution state by the investigation of epidemiology and the observation on the clinical sympotom, and pathological changes in sheep which affected the BTV. By the investigation of the Cashmere goat in KeLan foundation, we got across the origin of the infection. Blue-tongue disease in Foothill of the BTV, the incidence of a disease and incidence of death was respectively 6.0% and 32.6%(in the middle western distribute of Jiaochen), while in the south of Shanxi, Yangchen and Qinshui, were 22.9% and 16%. In the positive serium, the goat of the ruminants is the highest infection, the incidence of infection was 35%, in the sheep, there was 8.2%, but scalper was 7.8%. The infection and the pathogenic time was often occurred in July and August, this was the basic law of the BTV infection. We made out the methods of prevention the BTD. For the first time, we found the possibility that media insects other than Culivoides may transmit animal blue tongue disease. It is valuable in the disease's research.We identified the type of the virus through microagglutin test, eroding-spot test and polymer chain reaction. And we also identified the subtype of the virus through c-ELISA technique and polymer chain reaction. The result showed that the titre of local subtypic serum is 1/20, the titer is 1/80 when it tested by standard serum, the titer to 1/64 when compared to OR7602Aug which from Austria, but it showed no reaction with the anti-serum of the subtypie of BTV23, 20 and 15. The analysis of the gene fraction L2 and S10 with the equivalent in American and Austria, we found that the virus serum type belong to the same subtype with the Austria and it was different with American. The separated antigen was inoculated to the original animal, the clinical symptom was the same to the original. From all these fact, we identified it is the BTV-I subtype which prevalenced in goat and sheep in Shanxi province. We reported that goat showed the typical clinical sign in the north of HuangHe River. It is the first report in China.Making use of the virus of BTV-I that had been separated and identified and the BTV-16, we achieved the two-subtype attenuated vaccine, which was used in production. In the important epidemiology distribute, using immunosurveillence c-ELISA was taken to detection the immune serum. 1449 seriums were tested, we tested out 1041 were positve, the result showed that the percentage of immune protecting is as high as 70.1%. We must strongthen the quarantine and depurate, restrict the flow of epidemic in drove, developed the quarantine of the producing area, and did well the seasonalkilling midges (Culivoides), mosquitoes and flies, strongthened the antisepsis, established immovable area to browse and so on, this system of prevention can take a great act to control epidemelogy in Shanxi for 6 years, which are also the base of prevention in north of china. This is only the first project and new technology production to attained great economic benefits in the world.
