Citrus is one of the most important fruits in the world. China is one of the important original regions for citrus production and has a long history of citrus production. The productive output of citrus of China take the second place in the world in 2005. Citrus production has become one of the pillar industries in the southern country of China. It plays a very important role in the promotion of economics, development of the society and shaking off poverty and achieving prosperity. Citrus is the important fruit of Chongqing, which is famous for its large plant area, high quality and quantity of citrus. The Three-Gorge Reservoir Region of Chongqing is the best place for citrus production and ascertain as the plant area of superior citrus by the Department of Agriculture. Valencia oranges mature in April and May. It is the important off-season fruit and raw material for orange- juice processing. Therefore, it plays a very important role in citrus production of Chongqing.With the development of economy and increase of living standard, people have a higher and higher demand for the quality of fruits. After the entry into the WTO, the quality of citrus is the decisive factor in the severe competition. Therefore, the quality of citrus should be improved so as to strengthen the industry of citrus production in the Three-Gorge Reservoir Region of Chongqing.
