Study On The Water Use Of Soil And Water Conservation In Yellow River Basin

Researches of soil and water conservation in the last few years demonstrated that soil and water conservation could reduce water yield amount and water resoureces of the river basin as well as making good use of precipitation resources and reducing sediment yield by erosion. Combined with the key research program"Water Use of Soil and Water Conservation and Utilization of Precipitation Resources in the Mountainous Area"suggested by Monitor Center of Soil and water Conservation and Department of Soil and water conservation of Ministry of Water Resources,"Study on the Water Use of Soil and Water Conservation in Yellow River Basin"was taken, aiming at the Yellow River basin seriously lacking of water, which was in order to coordinate water use of production, living and ecology and to provide evidences for the water resources assessment and reasonable allocation and utilization of Yellow River basin.The conception and the category of the water use of soil and water conservation were defined at first. It was definitely pointed that water use of soil and water conservation was clearly different with"eco-requirement water","eco-consumption water","eco-lack water"etc.. Water use of soil and water conservation was the river water resoureces amount used (reduced) by the comprehensive management measures of small watersheds for changing low layer of basin in the given area (basin) and given period of time, which included afforestation, grass-planting, terracing, damming and so on. Although the water use of soil and water conservation wasn't concerned with the allocation of the water resources, it played an important role in the total amount of river basin water yield, which was an obligatory factor in the water resources planning of the basin.
