Stress response is the nonspecific reaction of the body to any stressor. Severe stress can cause tissue damage and sudden death. Transport stress cause severe economic loss every year in the world. Under stress conditions, the concentration of Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) changes markedly to enable cells adjusting to rapid changing environment, regulating the internal environment and protecting the cells to survive the stress.18 finishing pigs were randomly divided into six groups (A, B, C, D, E, F) and 3 pigs per group. The experimental pigs from group B, C, D, E and F were transport stressed for 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 6 h and 10 h respectively, and the pigs from group A were remained in the farm for control. Transport stress was performed under conditions identical to those found in China, about 50-60 km·h-1. At the completion of specific transport stress, the pigs were slaughtered, and parts of the hearts, livers, spleen, lung, kidney, lymph node, and M. longissimus dorsi were quickly removed and snap frozen in liquid nitrogen, then frozen at -70℃ to detect the contribution and quantity of hsps mRNA. Tissues obtained immediately after slaughter were fixed in a solution of 4% paraformaldehyde in 100 mmol/L PBS to detect the tissue damage and contribution of HSPs. Serum was used to detect the activation of CK and AST. The relationship on hsps mRNA transcription, HSPs expression and tissue damage was studied in this article.Tissue damages in transport stressed pigs after 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10 h long distance transportation were studied by means of clinical pathological and histopathological methods. Significant increase of the serum creatine kinase (CK) and the asparate aminotransferase (AST) which refer to myocardium and hepatocyte damage were occurred at the beginning of transport stress (1-2 h). After a slight reductions at 4 h transportation (P>0.05), the serum CK and AST of the transport stressed pigs increased obviously at 6 h...
