Objective: To determine the effect of Remifentanil on oxidative stress and IL-8 expression in rats after hemorrhagic shock, we observed MDA, total SOD in serum, MPO and IL-8 expression in lung.Method: Healthy SD rats are the subjects. Duplicate the model of revised Wigger's hemorrhagic shock. Divided the animals into three groups: shock group (control group), resuscitation group and treatment group. In the treatment group, animals received Remifentanil intravenously at the rate of 0.5 g/kg/min constantly. There are 6 rats in every group and every time. Calculate MDA, total SOD, MPO by colorimetry. IL-8 expression was measured by the method of immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR.Results: The concentration of MDA in serum elevated after hemorrhagic shock. The data of 2 hour after shock and 4 hour after shock are significantly higher than that of pre-shock and shock (P<0.05). At the times of 2 hour after shock and 4 hour after shock, data of resuscitation group was significantly higher than that of treatment group ( P<0.05). The changing of total SOD was relative with that of MDA negatively. The efficacity of MPO significantly grew after hemorrhage ( P<0.05), while in the group of treatment , MPO was suppressed significantly. The expression of IL-8 in treatment group was lower than that of resuscitation group at 2h> 4h after hemorrage. Conclusion: Remifentanil has modulating effect on the status of excess stress after the body suffered injury, and down-regulate IL-8 expression in lung.
