Objective: To study the individualized functional reconstruction of mandibular defect by mechanical analysis, development of individualized titanium mesh and animal experiment based on computer aiding. Methods: At first the layer anatomic information of the mandible was collected and 3-dimensional mandible model was reconstructed. Then three dimensional finite element model of individual functional reconstruction of mandible defect was established and relevant biomechanics analysis was carried out. Then individual titanium mesh implant of mandible with dental implant was developed based on mirror technique, rapid prototyping technique and titanium casting technique. At last relevant experimental study on animal was also carried out to observe the effect of individualized functional reconstruction of mandible defect. Results: Three dimensional finite element model of individualized functional reconstruction of mandible defect was established and could provide biomechanical analysis for mandible reconstruction. The three-dimensional titanium mesh implant with dental implant for individualized functional reconstruction of mandibular defect was successfully developed and experimental study on animals showed that this method could meet individualized functional reconstruction of mandibular defect. Conclusion: It is possible to realize individualized functional reconstruction of mandibular defect by CAD and further study is worth.
