Objective: To investigate the effects of Xinguantong I Herbal Compound on myocardial viability and cardiac function in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) following successful revascularization Methods: The myocardial viability and cardiac function of fifty six patients with AMI following successful revascularization randomly enrolled into the Xinguantong 1 Herbal Compound group and the control group were observed in three months. SD rat AMI model developed in six groups after feeding on normal saline, Atenoloi and Xinguantong I Herbal Compound ior seven days respectively was used to study its cardiac function and infarct size. Result: Xinguantong 1 Herbal Compound lessened clinical symptoms, bettered ischemic myocardium, decreased cardiomyocyte apoptosis, improved cardiac function and myocardial viability of pcitients with AMI significantly greater (P<0.01 or P<0. 05) than the improvement made in its controls. Conclusion: Cardioprotective Xinguantong I Herbal Compound therapy might prove therapeutically valuable in promoting cardiomyocyte viability and improving left ventricular function which improved quality of life and prognosis for patients with AMI.
