Aim: To prepare tranilast-eluting stents(TES) and to evaluate its safety , efficacy and biocompatibility in the Porcine Coronary Model. Methods: TES was coated with a biodegradable polymer PLGA , and its release profile and other physics &chemical behaviors were evaluated. The feasibility, efficacy and biocompatibility of TES were investigated in the porcine coronary model after 30 days. Results: 1. TES manifested appropriate releases behavior and physical & chemical capability. 2. TES containing 300μg and 600μg tranilast reduced significantly neointimal hyperplasia area by 41% and 53% respectively and endothelization was completed after 30 days in the porcine coronary model. Stent thrombosis were not appeared in the surfaces of stents and the inflammation were not found aroud the struts. Conclusion: The implantation of TES is safe, feasible and effectively reduces in-stent neointimal hyperplasia in porcine coronary model after 30 days .
