Objective: Atherosclerosis, (AS) is the major disease which seriously hazard human health, it was called"the first killer"in developed country, and the main cause of death in the world. The injury and apoptosis of endothelial cell (EC) may be the promoter of AS. Metabolic disturbance of lipid is one of the independent risk factor for the occurrence of AS. Reducing the blood lipid and protecting the EC were the key procedure in AS treatments. Hydroxy- methyl-glutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reducase inhibitors, such as simvastatin and pravastatin had been widely used to treat AS. They could regulate lipid metabolism, resist oxidation, up-regulate low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor and inhibit the expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1). However, their prices were expensive and the by-effect and the safety of long term using need to be further evaluated. In recent years, several investigations showed that traditional Chinese medicines may interfere AS initiation in different components, significantly cut down the morbidity of AS early accident, and lessen the pathogenesis'extent. Jiangzhitongluo capsula mollis is a new traditional Chinese Medicine to treat hyper-lipoidemia, which is mainly used for energy stagnation and blood stasis. Its main component is curcumine. Pharmacodynamic investigations show that it can significantly decrease triglyceride, cholesterol and low density lipoprotein (LDL), and increase high density lipoprotein (HDL); it has a resist oxidation effect. To further investigate the mechanism of curcumine, we used high lip forage to build earlier period AS rat model, and investigated the blood vessel endothelium (BVE) injury, cell adhesion and apoptosis from entirety, cell and molecular levels to approach the intervention effect of curcumine.Methods1 Experimental animal...
