Objective: Tumor can escape from immunological surveillance through immunosuppression caused by immunosuppressive molecules secreted from tumor cells, and this is the important mechanism of the occurrence and development of tumors. The bad clinical anti-tumor effects in vivo of many bio-remedial and chemotherapeutic medicines closely related to the state of deep immunosuppression formed by tumor in situ. The supernatant immunosuppression from cultured certain tumor cells formed by secreted immunosuppressive molecules in which TGF-β1, VEGF, IL-4, IL-6 and IL-10 were reported more. The immunosuppression was mediated mainly through the inhibition of T and NK cells that were major anti-tumor effectors. Therefore, studying the down-regulative effects on tumor immunosuppression and immunosuppressive molecule secretion and seeking for the effective drugs that can reverse this kind of immunosuppression, are important parts of discovering anti-tumor drugs, ascertaining their immunological mechanisms and guiding their proper clinical application.The study of anti-tumor traditional Chinese medicines had dominant position in the area of study on anti-tumor drugs. Compared with other remedial medicines used for patients with tumor (esp. chemotherapeutic medicines), traditional Chinese medicines used for treatment or adjuvant treatment had been proved to have more inspiring and wide prospect for their properties of multiple pathway and target, low toxicity, high efficiency, cheapness and no harm to the body and immune system.
