Sun Abdominal Acupuncture

This article bravely proposes the Sun abdominal acuptuncture on the basis of the research achievements of the abdominal cerebrum theory that abdominal part is the second cerebrum of human and the theory of brain-gut petide. The abdominal cerebrum theory and brain-gut petide theory think that abdominal part is the second cerebrum of human and another nerve center of human body, which can assist cerebrum by controlling all the tissues and organs of human body. Abdominal cerebrum can produce some neuroactive substance with the character of enteric nervous system's double distribution. These substance can participate in the important vital movements of human body and determine human's health or disease. Sun abdominal acuptuncture thinks that the stimulus signal of abdominal needle can penetrate through abdominal wall and directly influence ENS, thereby stimulating the neuron of ENS and adjusting the secretion, release and use of some neuropeptides.Sun abdominal acuptuncture chooses acupoints(areas) in abdominal part referring to the cerebral cortex function localization theory of modern medicine. Treating abdominal part as the projection area of cerebral cortex function localization, Sun abdominal acuptuncture chooses and locate acupoints with the center of navel which is the superimposition of abdominal Baihui acupoint. The acupoint-chosen method is completely different with the conventional acupuncture of tradition.In the clinical research, 34 patients with primary hypertension, 21 patients with depressive-type nervous disease and 17 patients with DM were treated with Sun abdominal acuptuncture. The resultsshow that the curative effect is very significant, which can't reach with the conventional acupuncture.In the empirical study, the plasma neuropeptide changes of patients with primary hypertension were observed before and after the treatment of Sun abdominal acuptuncture. The patients' plasma neuropeptide (VIP, NT> NPY) were changed greatly (P<0.01), showing that Sun abdominal acuptuncture could make the plasma neuropeptide (VIP <> NT) content of patients with primary hypertension increase and the content of NPY decrease.The indications of abdominal acuptuncture are numerous, including the diseases of nervous system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, urogenital system and alimentary system, especially having good effect on some diseases originating from the changes of neuroactive substance.Sun abdominal acuptuncture is the innovative achievement of the science of acupuncture and moxibustion, and is the important part of Sun Shentian's academic experience. The rationale, action pathway and acupoint-chosen method are different with acupuncture and moxibustion, which is a fully new method of acupuncture and moxibustion.
