Olfactory function is important for physiological behaviors of both animal and human beings. Olfactory processes include that olfactory receptor neurons transduct chemical stimulation into electrical signals in nasal cavity, the principal neurons also called M/T cells priliminarily analyze and integrate signals in olfactory bulb and then project it to olfactory cortex. The different neurons in olfactory nervous system possess functional diversity. Olfactory receptor neurons are in charge of transduction, the M/T cells preliminarily participate analytic and integrating function of electrical signals, the olfactory cortex perfome more advanced signal analysis and induction. The paper intended to study electrophysiological properties in M/T cells, which mainly included passive electrical properties and voltage-? dependent ion channels. The paper's goal was (1) establishing a method of primary neuron culture for olfactory bulb and discussing if cultured M/T cells were fitted for whole cell recording according to their size and shape.(2) comparing and analyzing the result diversity of passive eletrical properties from whole cell recording and intracelullar recording respectively.(3) observing how manty types of voltage-dependent ion channels in M/T cells and comfirming their electrophysiological and pharmacological properties.(4) referring to some electrical activity pattern with electrophysiological properties in M/T cells, which were helpful to understand siganal transmitting and integreting in olfactory bulb.
