Nervous system plays a critical role in the human vital activity. The nervous system, along with the endocrine system, provides most of the control functions for the body . But diseases or senescence will influence the normal function of nervous system. Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease in old people. Neuroscientists in the world have paid their great attention to this disease. There are many theories which attempt to elucidate the cause and pathogenesis of AD. With development of molecular neurobiology, we have the chance and the possibility to identify the relations among these AD theories from various levels.Women have a higher risk of AD than men, very old women have the highest incidence rate of AD, it is a important clinical basis for us to study the effect of gender hormone, especially the estrogen deficiency in menopause women, on the cause and the pathogenesis in AD.Women who suffer from estrogen deficiency often show osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, dementia and so on. The cause and the development of these diseases are also related to the calcium equilibrium including bone calcium, blood calcium, and intracellular calcium in body. So, we used ovariectomized rats, cultured...
